Slushies are one of my favorite things to make in the Ninja Creami — they’re frosty, fun and ideal for warm days or celebrations. Don’t have a Ninja Creami? No problem. Below I explain how to make this frozen Mimosa slushy using simple tools you likely already have.

Why you’ll love this recipe

  • Only three main ingredients: sparkling wine, orange juice and a little sugar.
  • Prepare the base ahead of time and freeze for effortless entertaining.
  • Perfect for a relaxed brunch, a festive gathering or New Year’s Eve.
  • Use Prosecco for a budget-friendly version or Champagne for something special.

Ingredients

Ingredients: prosecco, orange juice, sugar.

Sparkling wine: Prosecco is a great, wallet-friendly choice; use Champagne for a more luxurious version.

Orange juice: Fresh or bottled orange juice works—use what you prefer.

Sugar: A small amount of granulated sugar brightens and balances the frozen mixture. If your orange juice is very sweet, taste the mix before adding sugar; frozen flavors tend to be a touch muted.

How to make a Mimosa slushy

See the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts and full instructions.

Measure the sparkling wine into a container and gently stir to reduce bubbles. Add the orange juice and the sugar, then whisk or briefly blend to combine. Reserve ½ to ¾ cup of the mixture and chill it in the fridge—this reserved liquid will be used later to loosen the frozen slush.

Process shots: flattening prosecco, adding orange juice, spinning on slushy.

Without a Ninja Creami

Pour the mixture into ice-cube trays and freeze until solid. Transfer the frozen cubes to a blender and add the reserved liquid, or blend everything in a tall jug using an immersion blender. Blend until you reach a slushy consistency.

Regular Ninja Creami

Pour the combined mix into the Ninja pint up to the Max Fill line and freeze flat for 24 hours. Process using the Sorbet setting, then add the reserved liquid and mix until you achieve a slushy texture. If it’s too firm, let it sit a few minutes at room temperature and re-spin or stir to loosen.

Deluxe Ninja Creami

Fill the Ninja pint to the Drinkable Freeze Fill line and freeze for 24 hours. After freezing, add the reserved liquid to the Drinkable Pour-In line, then process on Full and Slushi. Re-spin if you prefer a thinner, more drinkable slushy.

How to serve

Glass of Mimosa slushy with tall spoons and fresh orange slice on the side.

Spoon the Mimosa slushy into glasses, add a straw or spoon, and garnish with an orange slice if you like. Serve immediately for the best frosty texture—this is a festive and refreshing drink for brunch or any celebration.

How to store

Once blended, the slushy is best served immediately as it will melt. You can store the frozen base (before blending) in the freezer for up to a month. Keep the reserved liquid in the fridge and use within three days.

Tips for success and frequently asked questions

Can I use a different juice?

Yes—you can experiment, though I haven’t tested every variation. Grapefruit juice (especially ruby or red) would be bright and attractive. Note that flavor and sweetness will change, so adjust sugar as needed.

Can I make slushies with other fruits?

Absolutely. Try a Bellini slushy with peach puree or a Rossini with strawberries for fruit-forward variations.

Equipment

  • Ice cube trays, or a regular/Deluxe Ninja Creami

Ingredients

Regular Ninja Creami

  • 1 cup sparkling wine (Prosecco or Champagne)
  • 1 cup orange juice (fresh or bottled)
  • 3 teaspoons granulated sugar

Deluxe Ninja Creami

  • 1 1/3 cups (335 ml) sparkling wine
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Ensure you have freezer space so your pint or trays can freeze flat.
  2. Pour the sparkling wine into your container and stir gently to reduce bubbles.
  3. Add the orange juice and sugar, then mix until combined.
  4. Reserve ½ cup (regular) to ¾ cup (Deluxe) of the mixture, cover and chill in the fridge.
  5. Without a Ninja Creami: freeze the remaining mixture in ice trays until solid. Blend the frozen cubes with the reserved liquid until slushy.
  6. Regular Ninja Creami: pour the mix to the Max Fill line, freeze 24 hours, process on Sorbet, then add reserved liquid and mix to slushy.
  7. Deluxe Ninja Creami: fill to Drinkable Freeze Fill line, freeze 24 hours, add reserved liquid to the Pour-In line, then process on Full and Slushi. Re-spin if needed for a thinner drink.

Notes

Sparkling wine: Prosecco works well and is budget-friendly; choose a wine you enjoy drinking because its flavor will come through. Use Champagne for a more luxurious version if desired.

Texture: This recipe produces a fairly firm slushy. Let it sit a few minutes or re-spin if you prefer a looser, more drinkable consistency.
